Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia has a number of airports around it. The Sepang International Airport (KUL) is home to the Flag carrier Malaysian Airlines and fast growing Air Asia Malaysia (and Air Asia X). While Malaysian Airlines sadly repainted its special Hibiscus and Heliconia colors, Air Asia has more than enough special colors to compensate - including the ‘Raiders’ A340 which is quite difficult to catch in daylight. As of this trip, construction of the new low cost terminal is underway and has resulted in the loss of several nice photo points; although, where there is a will there is a way :)
KL's domestic and military airport Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (SZB) is in the suburb of Subang. Scheduled service is quite limited but on a good day there are lots of goodies from the Malaysian Air Force, Maritime Patrol and other government/military outfits.
On the way to and from KL stops in Tokyo allowed me the opportunity to catch up on the many interesting schemes flying that JAL and ANA have to offer.
