Special Colors & Fleets

Pakistan International Airways - Provincial Tails

In order to highlight the heritage of Pakistan, PIA has painted colors representative of the the four Provinces that make up Pakistan. The four provinces are:

- Frontier: represented by the "Phulkari" (flowering) pattern.
- Punjab: represented by the tile patterns of the Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore
- Baluchistan: represented by the patterns form carpets and rugs
- Sindh: represented by the floral Hala tile work pattern

More information can be found on the website of PIA and the comprehensive History of PIA site.

Update: as of early 2010 it seems that PIA is rapidly repainting aircraft to their new revised regular paint scheme.
